What to do with your business during the current crisis? With the economic crisis, many businesses are having to take dramatic measures to reduce their costs and keep their operations going. One of those measures is the cancellation of employee work hours. While this may seem like a “quick fix,” it doesn’t always end well. In fact, over 60% of employees cancelled or furloughed themselves for four weeks or longer. How can you make sense of your workplace and your work life? How can you plan for the next few years of your life? In a word: collaboration. How When there’s a significant amount of communication happening, the chances are you’ll be able to solve a problem. And the worst thing in some of the current world issues is when communication seems to cut off. Instead of having a meaningful conversation about the things that matter most to you (those that don’t happen to involve coronavirus), instead of getting real help and support, you’ll find yourself asking people for advice. “What do you think I should do? Should I send a bill to Bill for X dollars? Should I take a week off to take care of my family?” When you’re in situations like this, having good working relationships with people who can help and support you is crucial. So why are some people having these difficulties and others are thriving while still maintaining their businesses and work lives? If you have time, grab your collaborative writing pad and a cup of coffee (or tea)! Here's my notes after practicing at StratEsprit. 1. Communication will not stop The problems are so pervasive these days that if you don’t get the point across, people are going to turn away. And that’s especially true if you have a company-wide email address and are sending out a bunch of emails on Fridays. (Also, for the record, I totally have an inking pad.) But here’s the thing: you do and you’re not? Well that’s ok. As a freelancer, for example, you have a lot of people to connect with. You do have a company-wide email address. You send out a lot of emails (but do it from home, not work — not because people may think you’re a jackass but because people like what they’ve already seen.) In my experience, though, emails are generally more effective when written in person. That’s because having a face-to-face conversation with someone means you will get a chance to explain things in a more personal way. When you make time for good communication and open yourself up to opportunities for new knowledge and learning, you’ll end up having a much healthier working relationship and a more satisfying work life. (And hey, that doesn’t even have to happen with your employees! But if you have someone who could be that person, you should at least try!) 2. What really matters most to you won’t always be the most pressing problem The way we work is built on the back end — how much you pay for something, how many hours you put into something, and how much you enjoy your job. However, you don’t always know what is crucial to you until you’re in a difficult situation. For example, many professional women (not just in business — it even goes for men) tell me that while they’re putting time into their businesses that they really care about, they are also sacrificing time for their families. They are doing what needs to be done for their families while doing what they love to do. However, you have no clue until you hit a rough patch… what should you do? This is something you need to figure out without relying on your gut. We have to learn to rely on data, we need to be more strategic when it comes to time management, we should know when it’s more important to spend more time learning so we can work more efficiently, and we can only know those things when they are necessary to our survival. So while you’d like to know that this time is sacred, sometimes it’s just as vital to your survival and well-being that that time be sacrificed. So don’t put it off, figure out ways to make it work for you now. You have to determine what your priorities are and figure out how to get them out of your business. 3. When to communicate is important The other part of this is, communication. When you don’t have enough time to get everything you need out to people, you’ll get less done than you can if you find a way to communicate effectively. Make sure you have time to communicate in the future (which is already happening in some of the most disruptive situations) and then plan how you’ll ensure you have plenty of time to get the help and resources you need for the future. Having this information to hand helps to ensure you prioritize what really matters to you. There are a lot of different types of communication you can have with people (both online and offline), so don’t worry too much about finding your next great resource. For example, take your next meeting with a particular person. Make sure there’s a good balance of communication. Some people prefer to have a one-way conversation with a person. Others prefer that you take part in a conversation. So go for one-way communication first, but be sure to make it more of a casual discussion once you get home. You don’t have to fill every email you send with notes, but just as important, it will make people feel that you are in the moment as you talk. Sometimes that even means writing about something, not in front of your laptop or phone. If you haven’t worked with the person before, talk about what’s new or exciting for work, but don’t talk about work — what they’re working on at the moment! Or if they’re one of your employees, ask how they are feeling about their jobs, what they’re working on, and try to make it a productive conversation. 4. Don’t let time go to waste People also underestimate the value of time. It shouldn’t be wasted. You’ve heard it countless times: “My whole life is about work and work alone…” And it’s true. (But hey, that doesn’t mean you have to make yourself a parrot, so take your life back.) Your work should enrich your life. Sure, many of us want to escape the business for the day… and so do you! We want to spend time with the people we love. We’d even go so far as to say we’d happily forfeit the quality of our work to do that. However, we have to take responsibility for what we’re working on at the moment. ]]>

Strategic management is really important for business in times of crisis. It is particularly important when customers are suffering and you are unable to deliver what you promised. At the time of a company’s crisis, it is critical to use the best solution and process available to get the job done without delay.

The key reason behind using a crisis plan is to avoid having business issues that would cost money. However, when working in a company where everyone is involved in operations and there are too many decisions to make, it is important to implement an action plan.

In order to help business leaders of all levels (CEOs, CFOs and COOs) and managers in the company to manage a crisis effectively, they can also consider crisis management as part of their business planning.

Most business leaders take seriously the challenge of making strategic decisions. However, they do not take the time to plan in advance. In fact, when confronted with difficult decisions, they tend to make all of the necessary decisions and then stop working and waiting for the outcome.

When a crisis begins to emerge, those leaders who failed to prepare and do not have a strategy to guide them do not know what course of action to take. As a result, business will suffer severely, in addition to lost revenue and the potential loss of the company’s financial value. It may go so far as causing them to lose their jobs.

A crisis management plan takes the process of managing a crisis to the next level. If a crisis were to emerge, it would be easier to make good decisions if you had planned for it. For this to happen, it is important to create a well-thought-out and consistent plan.

For the time being, a crisis management plan, for those companies and managers that do not have one yet, will provide an extremely valuable tool because it will help them navigate through challenging business situations. It will also help the leadership, directors and key members of the company to develop a more proactive and efficient business plan when there is a crisis.

You can also include all of the things that need to be done before a crisis so that you don’t have too many decisions to make or take your eyes off the ball. With a crisis management plan, you are able to work with everyone during the entire process. If an event will make it hard for your staff to work, you can put them on hold until they are in a better mental and physical state to do the work.

A well-thought-out crisis management plan can be as simple or as complicated as you wish. However, you should follow a very common trend in the business world. Companies that have a crisis management plan tend to implement what is known as the “Dependability” principle, which means that they know that the company will stay on course and they will not deviate from their intended course on how to manage the crisis. The key is that you make the decision (even if you are very late) on how you want to proceed from the crisis.

Here are examples of the things that you can cover in a plan for a crisis concerning the company’s organization.

Who has authority over the business when the crisis comes? Do they know who is to blame for an internal or external disruption of communications, or of data? What if things got worse before the crisis began?

When a crisis occurs, how much damage will the company suffer and what will be the impact on the revenue and profit of the company? What would be the potential damages because you didn’t prepare? What will you do if the worst happens?

Market flexibility is not to be neglected https://thebusinessdirectory.info/market-flexibility-is-not-to-be-neglected/ Wed, 22 Jun 2022 05:20:28 +0000 https://thebusinessdirectory.info/?p=102 Read More Read More

Instead of following a strict plan, managers must help organizations to respond to unpredictable market conditions. Market flexibility is important, and when done prudently, can deliver high returns.

To get a better idea of how market flexibility works, take note of the following three points:

  • Markets change rapidly and unpredictably.
  • As a result, managers must constantly adapt their decision models and plan.
  • Managers must identify their market objectives and adjust their plans in response to unexpected market changes.

Each point requires some thought. Let’s look at each of them now and work out the answers before moving on.

Let me make it clear up front: market flexibility is not to be confused with market stability. By market changes we are referring to changes that occur within a certain time frame or within a certain geographic region that are driven by the economy or some particular company.

The following are some examples:

  • The housing market is up and down throughout the year.
  • Some companies are doing well and some are not, so a change in demand for a product caused by this is not surprising.
  • Some companies are down while others are up, but these changes don’t occur on a regular basis — a short-term boom or bust.

Market flexibility is an essential part of any market plan and must be put into practice. The same market flexibility that delivers high operating returns (from both the bottom-line, bottom-line cash flows, and total assets) also delivers a great deal of flexibility to the market, thus helping managers meet their goals.

As we have discussed, market flexibility means that the market changes quickly and unpredictably, with no plans or predictability. It involves working through changes that occur unpredictably and as such requires a much greater amount of market planning than we have already discussed.

I hope that you have picked up a few important observations from our earlier discussion of market flexibility:

  • Market changes occur very quickly and unpredictably
  • In order to anticipate market changes, managers must constantly change their thinking
  • Managers should be concerned with what may happen rather than thinking about what is out of their control
  • Markets don’t last very long

As a result, it quickly becomes obvious that market flexibility is going to have a significant impact on your plan — both short-term and long-term.

Market flexibility means that there are no specific plans or targets in place. The market changes quickly, so managers have to react and adjust to market changes. It also means that a manager’s plan, target, and plan targets will be set on a short, medium, or long timescale. These timescales need to be considered but should not be so inflexible that they can’t be adjusted as the market changes. Remember, market flexibility is important.

Market Flexibility Requires Much Thought and Planning. This is the point that makes you question the relevance of market flexibility. Market flexibility requires many decisions and a great deal of thought. There is simply no way around it and there is simply no formula for deciding a market plan that will give the best bang for the buck.

Remember that market flexibility is important. However, market flexibility doesn’t happen because plans are not there. There has to be some sort of planning, and you have to know how big you need to be, how long you need to hold it or how long you can retain it.

Drones in food tech https://thebusinessdirectory.info/drones-in-food-tech/ Tue, 15 Mar 2022 07:20:06 +0000 https://thebusinessdirectory.info/?p=97 Read More Read More

One of the ways for food techs startups to utilize modern technologies is using drones to deliver food. Drones can be useful in delivering services like food delivery and last-mile delivery services for businesses and people. In a time where people are concerned about environmental matters, drone technology is now used regularly by people for business purposes. What drones can do for foodtech companies is allowing them to offer other food or food-related services as well. There are startups that introduced an app-based food ordering service to the market by utilizing drones to place orders for a limited number of people in restaurants. These services are also providing an alternative way to eat rather than the traditional way of ordering food and waiting in line. If you want to try a new order, then using the Drones System is an excellent way of doing so. There are many reasons why drone delivery is the fastest way to order food today, and it will only continue to become better. Firstly, you benefit from the fact that the deliveries come directly from the actual restaurant. You enjoy a healthy meal that you had ordered to arrive as soon as possible. Secondly, the drones offer you the best and fastest of delivery options when it comes to ordering meals as far as ordering from a restaurant goes. You can sit back and relax, and enjoy your meal as soon as it arrives. You have the benefit of ordering as you please. It’s a perfect solution for people who like to go out for dinner or want to order a delicious meal that arrives as soon as possible, and they get exactly what they want. But there are ways to utilize drones in food tech even outside of basic delivery. If you are a food manufacturer, you probably have an extensive list of ingredients that you need to get your foods ready for you to get your products into the store. This is possible today with a drone and can be completed in a very quick time. Of course, you will need to know where the specific areas where you have to use your food, what will happen if there is a power outage or if there are any issues with the lines, or any issues with your foods. If you own a catering business, you probably know food and the areas where the chefs have the food set before they prepare it for the clients. Whether you have the right ingredients in your kitchen or not, using a drone camera can show you what the kitchen is like with a camera in the drone. You can use it to show prospective clients exactly where the chefs work and what they use for food. This will save you time and energy of making a special trip to the kitchen for food delivery. This is where drones really help you out. You can have a drone camera that is on a high altitude with a long lens in the sky. This can fly around so that you can see what area you need in a specific place and you can deliver just that. Your clients that want to work on your food, with your chefs that work on your chefs’ food, can come together in the sky. The use of drones is becoming increasingly popular, whether for delivery or other purposes. Drones are a growing technology that is expanding and improving constantly. As drones become more and more important to our lives, as well to our economy, everyone should consider it to be useful when it comes to improving quality of life. At the same time, wider usage of drones in food tech requires input from governments. As Oleg Yakimov said on that matter: “The use of drones requires a special regulatory framework that will regulate their safe use, the creation of ground infrastructure (landing sites, recharging stations), as well as the development of automated control systems, including dedicated radio frequencies, navigation and geolocation systems, and software.” ]]>

Almost all large corporations voluntarily take steps to improve the quality of life in society thanks to corporate social responsibility (CSR). Corporate social responsibility is part of an organization’s development strategy that is aimed at taking into account the interests of society. CSR helps to increase trust and loyalty to the company on the part of all participants in business processes. Therefore, it should be undertaken by all. When this is not the case, the results are adverse. CSR results in economic benefit including the reduction of health care costs, improved education, job creation, and increased exports.

The United Nations (UN) and other organizations recommend that all countries develop such legislation as required by the international law. In the United States, CSR regulations were first introduced into law in 1947 when the Corporate Social Responsibility Act (CSR Act) was created, and since then many companies have expanded the definition of CSR activities.

In order to be compliant with such act, companies can use a wide range of activities to be included into CSR. The most common of them is to improve the environment as an integral part of CSR activities, for example carbon footprint, recycling, renewable energy, alternative methods of production, etc. Another area of activities that is frequently included into CSR are philanthropic works as well as voluntary environmental initiatives. Many large multinational organizations adopt these kinds of activities because they contribute to the sustainable development of the society and it is possible to use them as a way of raising public support.

The activities related to CSR have increased the demand for qualified human and business talent as well as a variety of professional courses and skills. Nowadays it is often not a difficult task to find companies willing to support the development of the CSR at the different levels from a national to the regional level.

To help companies be successful with their CSR activities the experts in this field propose the following guidelines:

  • Make CSR a requirement in the business management system of corporate strategy.
  • Conduct corporate social responsibility analyses to gain insight into the environment in which business operations take place.
  • Make CSR an integral part of a company’s strategy.
  • Organize CSR on a national and global basis.

Strategic management is very important for any company that want to gain a competitive edge. This is particularly true in industries where change and innovation is the norm, including travel, automotive and even travel insurance. It is increasingly being recognized that companies and people who are not willing to embrace change and be innovative and adaptive in their thinking, will not survive.

So what is the right balance between strategic management, innovation and adaptability? Can these be delivered in a single framework? Can these be aligned with the same principles to achieve strategic best practice? Can these attributes be aligned as they are used in different areas of policy to meet specific objectives and set the competitive edge in an industry where change is as standard a process as in travel?

One key attribute that is commonly discussed and referenced in many of these debates is that of risk management, which is a very familiar part of any company’s strategy of getting a competitive edge. In the context of strategy and innovation for travel in particular, we have seen a lot of debate on the question of whether you need to add risk management to your strategic management framework. For example, a popular example given by a leading risk management firm in their most recent white paper on innovation and change within travel was to apply this framework to all of travel, but only use risk management where there is a change in operating model, technology or product.

This approach is, in our opinion, very short-term and highly unwise. In the past, it has probably been more difficult to innovate and create a better product in the travel industry, but many major changes in travel have taken place since the advent of the internet and mobile, and major change is likely to continue. New products and innovations in technology will continue and companies need to invest in R&D to stay up to date. Companies need to think about innovation and how to do it effectively, and not only try to apply this approach to everything related to travel and in particular the travel insurance business, but also in other industries. More investment in innovation today means more competitive advantage tomorrow.

Another commonly held view is that strategic management and key principles such as adaptability, innovativeness and change are aligned to create a single framework in a way that can be applied to the different aspects of strategy and innovation for travel. This point of view is commonly related to the concept of a single overarching framework for the different roles and activities within a company (including strategy and innovation) – which we have outlined in our book, the A Framework For Creating Shared Priorities. We agree that the different aspects of strategy and innovation for a specific industry can be placed under one or more of these overarching structures.

As these four different components, strategies, adaptability, innovation and change, have a very high return on investment, it makes more sense to focus more on using these together rather than putting two or three together as separate factors in the strategy and planning process.

The Hiring of Diverse Team https://thebusinessdirectory.info/the-hiring-of-diverse-team/ Sun, 12 Sep 2021 07:50:45 +0000 https://thebusinessdirectory.info/?p=19 Read More Read More

In recent years, companies around the world have found that inclusivity and diversity can drive their revenue. It’s true that diverse management team leads to improved innovation and financial performance. It can also lead to faster growth, better customer loyalty and increased talent retention. You don’t have to look far to realize that you can’t do great if you don’t do good. This doesn’t necessarily involve the need for a diversity-in-all-things but rather the need to be fair and inclusive during the entire recruitment process. You will find that employees who are not just diverse but have diversity in their cultural and family background will be loyal and perform at a greater level because they aren’t afraid of what the job will be. There are three critical components we must keep in mind when employing a diverse staff:

  • Creating diversity that is relevant to their job and position.
  • Allowing them to become comfortable with diversity and not be afraid of it.
  • Delivering results that are relevant to their skill set and positions.

When you include in a diverse team, you are creating a strategic advantage by building loyalty, recruiting new talent and increasing profits. You will have more fun and the people in your organization will enjoy a sense of community. In the end, everyone wins.

The hiring process itself has come to be one of the most difficult aspects of running a business. In this day and age, finding qualified leads can be a challenge. This is true across all industries such as technology, hospitality, healthcare, construction and more. Finding and maintaining diversity in a diverse team is also paramount and will result in a strong and relevant workforce.

No one wants to work for a company that just does a few things better, because everyone else is doing the same thing. What they should be doing is developing a culture that encourages innovation instead of fear. That is what every business must do to be competitive in any industry.

For most companies, what makes them competitive is their ability to be able to attract and retain a diverse workforce. Companies must not neglect the importance of their workforce in the same way that a family member may neglect their health.

The talent and experience of diverse individuals will always be valued throughout their entire lifetime. We have found over the years that there is a much higher rate of retention of diverse employees than that of their non-diverse counterparts.

There are several recruitment tools you can use to acquire a competitive edge.

1. Provide an equal experience.

Diversity equals innovation. Everyone who enters an organization needs to be able to feel safe and welcomed. One method some companies have used to create this is to hire their workforce across diverse backgrounds and cultures. To the hiring manager, there is a higher chance of the hiring decision resulting in a successful culture for the business.

2. Communicate an equal opportunity and give everyone a fair chance.

Everyone must have the opportunity to shine and be judged based on their qualifications. What they bring to the table is their qualifications and how they were handled by the hiring company in the process.
